Stewardship

Alongside traditional organic livestock farming, the estate participates in a number of countryside stewardship schemes. The aim of these programmes is to look after and improve the environment. We do this by conserving and restoring wildlife habitats, creating and managing woodland, keeping the character of the countryside, preserving historical features in the landscape and encouraging educational access.

Energy & Renewables

The Crumplebury complex has a district heating system, which uses woodchip generated from our own timber operations. Our coppice programme and hedgerow maintenance enables us to ensure a sustainable supply of woodchip for the coming decades.

Crumplebury is one of the largest users of water on the estate. We have drilled our own borehole well to source off-grid water for this events space and hotel.

We have a number of small, roof mounted solar arrays generating electricity. In the future, we plan to meet the demands of vehicle electrification with solar energy.
